The About Recovery site was created to provide the most comprehensive single resource about co-occurring mental health and addictive conditions.

A co-occurring condition is when a person is affected by both an emotional or psychiatric illness and an addictive disorder. Psychiatric illness and addictive conditions affect an individual physically, psychologically, socially, economically, and spiritually. Although the two conditions are separate and independent, they interact in ways that make diagnosis, treatment, and recovery more complex.
